RECRO-NET and CISCO CROATIA HELD A JOINT CONFERENCE ON IPv6

On 20 of April, 2011, Zagreb- Cisco Croatia and RECRO-NET Company, golden Cisco partner and one of the leading system integrators in Croatia, held a conference on actual IT thematics of IPv6 Protocol implementation in Customer Networks
RECRO-NET and Cisco Croatia held a joint conference on the theme field that is becoming more actual every day, titled “IPv6 Protocol Implementation in Customer Networks“.
Demands and techniques of IPv6 Protocol implementation in Customer Networks were presented in front of Aristos Hotel overflow hall.
Conference emphasis is on the issue of limitation of available IPv4 addresses.
In fact, this year the IANA (the body responsible for global coordination of IP addressing) assigned the last available block of IPv4 addresses to the regional organizations that further distribute addresses (for Europe, RIPE). During the year, these regional organizations are expected to assign last acquired IPv4 addresses to end-users.
In order to solve this problem, IPv6 Protocol was defined fifteen years ago which provides the most important advantage of enabling practically unlimited number of IPv6 addresses.
However, the introduction of the IPv6 Protocol requires additional configuration of network equipment and computers for IPv6 along with existing IPv4 Protocol, what was the main motive for delay of this implementation.
On the other hand, in time period of few months, the locations that will be available only through the IPv6 Protocol will appear on the Internet. In order not to remain without the possibility of direct IP communication with such locations (e.g. web to/from such locations) and in order to prepare for the primary Protocol of Tomorrow’s Internet communication, it is necessary to introduce IPv6 support along with IPv4 to the Customer Networks.
The conference was opened by Aljosa Pavelin, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at RECRO-NET, who anticipated the approachment of key moment for IPv4 addresses’ limitations.
Krešimir Segaric, Executive Director of Education Sector from RECRO-NET, provided to conference visitors a brief introduction to the IPv6 Protocol, the current status of IPv6 Internet connectivity, methods of IPv6 implementation into Telecommunication Network Service Providers, the methods of introducing IPv6 in corporative networks and the potential challenges in these implementations.
The implementation case-study of connecting the RECRO-NET as a user to the IPv6 Internet was also presented.
Peter Gaspar, Consultant for the Next Generation IP Networks in the markets of rapid economic growth from Cisco Company, introduced Cisco's strategy on the implementation of IPv6 Protocol, as well as solutions and products that will be necessary for users when adding the IPv6 Network support.
More then 150 representatives of leading Croatian companies and from public sector attended this conference, and in front of present audience the RECRO-NET proved itself as a reliable partner by his expertise, ready to respond to all challenges of adding the IPv6 Network Support and relevant services.
